Like a certificate of authenticity for digital items. If you buy digital art as an NFT, you own the original version with proof on the blockchain - similar to owning an autographed baseball card versus a regular one. Each NFT is unique and can’t be replaced with another.
Technical
A cryptographic token representing unique, indivisible ownership of a specific digital or physical asset. Built on Solana using the Token Metadata program, NFTs include on-chain metadata, verified creators, royalty enforcement, and can be grouped into collections. Unlike fungible tokens, each NFT has distinct properties and cannot be exchanged 1:1.
